First Semester

Do you have a sincere desire to help others, a pleasant personality, integrity and good health? Nurse Aide may just be the course for you! This course is designed to prepare you for employment in a hospital or a nursing home as nurse aides with an emphasis on the study of the Nurse Aide related to the health care system. You will study nutrition, geriatrics, body structure/function and medical terminology along with being introduced to disease and infection control. Learn basic nursing skills including communication skills and interpersonal relationships, CPR, first aid and patient care. The first semester will offer the student an introduction to body structure and function, human behavior, basic nursing skills, nutrition, first aid and the concepts of wellness.

 

Nurse Aide 2

Second Semester

Dual Enrollment Option

Prerequisite: Successful Completion of Nurse Aide 1

In addition to continued studies, the second semester of Nurse Aide provides you with an opportunity to complete practical experiences in a healthcare facility. While observing various members of the health care team at work, students are exposed to real life situations that help them to make decisions about health careers.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student is eligible to take the licensing examination to become a certified nurse aide.
