Program Description

2 years – 6 credits – Advanced Career Education (ACE) Center at Hermitage

This program is designed to be completed in two years, during the 11th and 12th grades.

Year 1 ( Junior Year)

Entrepreneurship I (1 Credit): Introduces students to starting and managing their own business. Covers planning techniques, design thinking, business model development, financial statements, marketing, sales, customer service, and fundamental economic principles for success.

Digital and Social Media Marketing (1 Credit): Focuses on principles, strategies, tools, and tactics for digital and social media marketing, including branding, advertising, promotions, and measuring campaign success. Emphasizes ethics, laws, and security. Students will also learn to become social media influencers.

Design, Multimedia & Web Technologies (1 Credit): Students apply creativity and technology to create visual design, multimedia projects, and web projects using industry-standard software. Work-based learning experiences allow students to apply layout and design techniques in real-world situations. Students create portfolios that include a résumé, certifications earned, and a variety of projects produced in the course.

Year 2 ( Senior Year)

Entrepreneurship II (1 Credit): Designed for students who wish to concentrate on advanced strategies for entrepreneurship, building upon concepts introduced in Entrepreneurship I. Focuses on the development of a business plan and small business management. Students will establish, market, and maintain a business.

Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies, Advanced (1 Credit): Students acquire advanced skills in design, multimedia, and web development by applying project management principles to create professional-quality digital media projects. Work-based learning experiences allow students to apply layout and design techniques in real-world situations. Students create portfolios that include a résumé, certifications earned, and a variety of print, multimedia, and website projects produced in the course.

High Quality Work-Based Learning (1 Credit): Students will have the opportunity to either run a business they established in their first year or help manage the school store. This high-quality, work-based learning activity will require students to apply the skills and knowledge they have gained through the program. By participating, students will gain real-world experience and develop entrepreneurial skills, preparing them for future business endeavors.
