Shout out to the Horticulture program at the ACE Center at Hermitage for taking home 4th place in the Planter Container competition at the 2025 Virginia State Fair! This year’s theme, “Buzz and Bloom: Gardens That Bring Life,” inspired students to create a magical entry titled “Whimsical Wonderland.”
Their award-winning design featured a fairy garden bursting with pollinator-friendly fall annuals and perennials. The planter was filled with charming details like fairy figurines, mushroom houses, moss huts, turtles, butterflies, and even a dragon — all topped with twinkling solar bee lights that brought the display to life.
