The ACE Center at Hermitage is buzzing with excitement—and a few gentle clucks—thanks to the arrival of four chickens who officially joined our campus community this week. These new additions are part of a hands-on learning collaboration between our Horticulture and Veterinary Science programs, supported by our FFA chapter.
This initiative brings real-world agricultural and animal care experience directly to our students. The chickens will be housed and cared for by students in both programs, offering daily opportunities to apply classroom knowledge in a living lab environment. From nutrition and habitat maintenance to health monitoring and behavioral observation, students will take the lead in managing the well-being of their feathered friends.
The chickens have already sparked curiosity and smiles across campus, and students are eager to name them and begin their care routines. As the program grows, the ACE Center hopes to expand its animal science offerings and continue building bridges between career pathways.
