As college application season ramps up, students at the ACE Center at Hermitage are actively exploring their post-secondary options through a series of curated college visits. These trips are a key part of our commitment to the Enrolled, Employed, Enlisted mission—ensuring every student has a clear path forward after graduation.
Recent Visits
Students in Sports Medicine recently toured Randolph-Macon College, where they explored programs that build on the hands-on skills they’ve developed in class. Meanwhile, a group of students from Sports Medicine, Event Planning, and Web Development & Game Design traveled together to George Mason University, where they learned about majors and concentrations that align with their current career-focused curriculum.
These visits are more than just campus tours—they’re opportunities for students to connect their classroom experiences to real-world possibilities and begin envisioning their future.
Upcoming Trip
On Monday, students in the Teacher Apprentice Program will head to Longwood University to tour their School of Education. This visit will give aspiring educators a closer look at the academic pathways available to help them continue their journey toward becoming classroom leaders.
Application Opportunity: Old Dominion University
In support of college access, Old Dominion University is once again offering a fee waiver for all Virginia high school students.
Students can apply through the https://www.odu.edu/apply/applications or the Common App using the waiver code VCAW, valid through October 27.
ODU is also offering Direct Admission this year:
Common App: Students must have a 3.0+ GPA, meet financial eligibility, and/or be first-generation college students.
ODU App: Students with a 3.0+ GPA are eligible with no additional requirements.
These opportunities are part of how the ACE Center at Hermitage helps students take the next step—whether that’s enrolling in college, entering the workforce, or enlisting in service. We’re proud to support our students as they explore what’s possible.
